On July 13th, 2018, Mario Bomers successfully defended his thesis entitled: Surface functionalisation of III-V semiconductors based plasmonics for surface enhanced infrared spectroscopy.

On October 1st, 2018, Stefano Soresi successfully defended his thesis entitled: InP-based tandem solar cells integrated onto Si substrates by heteroepitaxial MOVPE.

Both candidates were early stage researchers supported by the H2020 program of the European Union through the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Initial Training Network PROMIS (grant agreement No 641899, http://www.physics.lancs.ac.uk/promis/).
